The River Beni is under threat from a huge number of gold mining dredging operations that are destroying the riparian and flood zone vegetation. This is one of the huge mobile dredging operations (reminded me a lot of Howl's Moving Castle actually!) that operates, along with an enormous number of small to medium scaled fixed operations, along the rivers edge. Photograph was taken en route from La Paz to Rurrenabaque, Bolivia.
