I took this photo in my backyard! I was quite excited to learn that I didn't have to drive a long ways to get really amazing pictures and that I could just use my backyard as a gorgeous back drop for my photos.Time
I took this photo during the winter time when the sun was setting. I love the ambience it gives her face and how the sun highlights her eye color and provides shadowing and contrast.Lighting
The lighting, as stated was incredible for this photo. It was all natural! No lights other than the sun were involved!Equipment

Her clothing. She was wearing a huge fur parka and I wanted a picture where it framed her face and showed off her amazing blue eyes.Editing
I just increased the shadowing, blended her face a little bit, and bumped up a little of the highlight.In my camera bag
I have my camera of course, a tripod, a flash, reflectors, and two different lenses. One for regular photos, and one that captures images that are far away.Feedback
Lighting is key. The sunlight has to be in the perfect position or you are likely to wash out your photo subject. Play around with F stop, aperture, shutter speeds and ISO. It took me a few test shots to be able to get the lighting just right.
