Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in my home in North Kingstown, RI - in our guest room

Time

About 10AM

Lighting

Beautiful window light behind the model - with a reflector bouncing bcd light into her face

Equipment

Shot with a Nikon D3s with a 24-70mm Nikon lens - all natural light

Inspiration

This is my favorite model - she's beautiful inside and out. I tried to capture her personality

Editing

Basic Lightroom for slight exposure compensation - then a round trip into Photoshop to use the Portraiture Plug-in for some minor retouching, then Color Efex for Classic softening with my favorite - darken/lighten center. Finished with just a bit of sharpening of the eyes

In my camera bag

Nikon D3s with 24-70, 70-200 and an 85. For studio lights, it's Profoto D1's

Feedback

Soft filtered lighting, focus on the eyes with a wide open aperture t let everything else fall out of focus. The real secret - find yourself a 'Christina' - almost hard to take a bad picture of her :-)
