Location
I took this photo at my parents farm. I was newer to photography at the time, so I decided to take a few photos of this old Studebaker. We have a car graveyard in the forest behind the barn.Time
I took this photo around 2 in the afternoon. I enjoy shooting when the sun is at its highest. This location turned out perfect for the time of day.Lighting
The lighting is all natural. The sun was bright but the shade from the trees gave it more of a natural look. I really enjoy showing my subjects in natural light, that way I know what to expect when shooting.Equipment
I carry a backpack full of gear, but for this shot all I needed was my Canon 60D and my 18-55 mm lens. No tripod or flash was required.Inspiration
I love taking pictures, and at the time I took this picture I was newer to photography. I traveled to my parents place for the day and decided to get some photos of the old cars sitting out in the trees. I spent about 30 minutes shooting every car at every angle I thought looked good. Taking photos of nature and old and forgotten subjects my style of photography.Editing
I didn't have to do a whole lot of processing. I use Lightroom for all of my processing, and this photo required just a small contrast correction to my liking.In my camera bag
I don't like having a ton of equipment with me since it gets heavy on long trips. I try to pack light and that includes my Canon 60D, my 18-55 mm lens, my 55-250 lens with hood, and a tripod. Less weight is always better since I go on foot for miles at a time when I shoot. I might add a macro lens to my bag at some point in the future.Feedback
Plan ahead and give yourself some time to shoot. Think of what you want to achieve while shooting. I see many people in too much of a hurry to get a better angle or better spot. Just take your time and your pictures will speak for themselves, I promise. Anyone can press that shutter button but knowing what you want really separates the average photographer from the great ones.
