Absolutely fantastic shot. Great lighting. It has a old world masters touch to it. I would love to see this in portrait perspective... maybe even an oil filter. Great work! Larry

Stunning in it's beautiful simplicity of capturing the human spirit for a second in time.

The picture is very dark yet you pulled that sparkle in his eyes out. I feel the emotion.

Location
I took this picture up in my loft. Using only window light. This little fellow is my grandson and has posed for me from birth. So he knows not to look right at the camera. One of my favourite young models.Time
I'm not sure of the time of day. But outside is quite protected from the sun and just allows light in. There's another house and trees out there.Lighting
I'm a real amateur and only use natural light. But when I see light and shadows together, or backlighting it always makes me grab my camera. There is just something about it that attracts me.Equipment
I'd love a new camera. I use an old Canon 50D. But it has served me well for about 6 years. I used a tripod for this image and natural light.Inspiration
His soulful face and the light on it.Editing
I did put a dark vignette around his face to draw attention to his eyes and profile. In my camera bag
Camera, 18-200 canon lens, 50 mm lens, and now my iPhone 6 which I always have with me and takes some relatively good pictures and it's always handy.Feedback
I'm a big lover of visual memories. I like to capture all my day to day activities. When you see something that pleases you don't let it escape your camera. I also, takes lots of shots of one scene and am amazed at the difference in each one. Also, get up early. The earlier the better. That's when magic often happens.
