The photo was taken in a little town Dornava, within one of the oldest castles in Slovenia. I was invited as a documentary photographer.Time
The photo was taken in the morning, time was around 9 a.m. I remember the strong light that illuminated the passage and the girl. Atmosphere and ambience was beautiful.Lighting
The strong lightening and contrast between dark and light tones made possible for ideal atmosphere. That was the reason for black and white version of photo.Equipment
When I cover that kind of event, I always take with me Nikon Camera D7100 and two of my favorite lenses. First is tokina 12-24 dx-pro F4 and the second is nikkor 35 F1,8. The photo was made with tokina, because of its wide angle. There was no need for tripod or flash and I could choose the lowest ISO and short exposure time.Inspiration
There is a lot of inspiration when i am doing that kind of job, and dealing with history. When I was observing people enjoying the history and going back to the past, I used that and record everything on my camera. I was fascinated by all the light, reflecting really strong and showing all the cracks in old walls.Editing
Like most of my photos this one was taken in RAW format, which made it possible to use »camera raw« postproduction and changed the photo into black and white version. Then I used Photoshop and emphasized light that was incoming through the windows. There was acctually very little post production, since the atmosphere took care of that.In my camera bag
Whenever I expect to walk a lot, I take my small backpack "Vanguard adaptor 41", where I can barely pack my camera Nikon D7100, lenses tokina 12-24 dx-pro F4 and nikkor 35 mm F1,8 my flash SB900 and tripod TRIOPO MT-25L. I also use the remote ML-L3.Feedback
The good photography comes sooner or later, all you have to do is observe. The equipement and its price is not the most immportant. Heart and respect are. We cannot forget that light is everywhere and not two moments are the same, even when we stand still. Everything else is moving and that ensures that each moment is uniqe and worth to be photographed.
