Location
I took this photo in Finland. I was on a roadtrip through Finland and we stopped at several campsides so I could shoot many pictures on very different locations. But this was still my favorite one. I was walking around on the campside. Lucky enough I stayed at one with a beautiful lake right next to the cottages. So actually I hadn't to walk that much. I found this fantastic jetty. When i saw it I already had this kind of picture in my mind.Time
I think it was about 10:30 pm. My parents already went to sleep but I just couldn't waste my time by doing nothing and just let this beautiful light pass away. So I grabbed my camera and everything I needed and went outside for shooting this sunset.Lighting
The sun was already set and left these fantastic colors and tones. Lucky enough I hadn't to hurry because the sky didn't get any darker because it was near the polar circle.Equipment
I took this photo with a Canon EOS 600D. The lens I used was a 8mm Fisheye. Because I was walking there alone I had the camera fixed on a tripod and used a shutter remote controller. I didn't use any artificial lights.Inspiration
I already saw a lot of these pictures where people were standing at the end of a jetty but I just don't have the chance to take pictures like that where I live (Germany). I always wanted to shoot a picture like that. So i was pretty amazed when I saw this location.Editing
Of course I did. I had a trial version of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5. Because it was new for me I didn't know much about processing with Lightroom. I actually just did some of the basics. I experimented with the saturatio, white balance and exposure etc. The foreground especially the jetty was very dark, nearly black. This was the first time where I saw what i was able to do with Lightroom. I could light up the foreground without loosing too much quality. THis is the result. In my camera bag
Actually I always walk around with all my equipement in my backpack because I don't have the best zoom lenses. I always carry my shutter remote controller with my if I don't have anyone by my side. If I see something beautiful and I want to take a picture of it I always want to experiment with all kind of focal lengths. That's why I carry my 8mm f3.5 Fisheye; Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 wide angle; 50mm f1.8; 60mm f2.8 macro; 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 kit and 75-300mm f4-5.6 lens with me. I know it's way too much I carry with me but I often had these moments where I absolutely regretted the situation that I left one lens at home.Feedback
Always experiment with your camera and always try to create or find the best possible composition you're able to shoot.
