I find you can get some of the best shots right outside your door. This butterfly bush was in full bloom and butterflies were everywhere.Time
This photo was taken mid day on a hot summer dayLighting
It was very bright outside with the sun behind me shinning on the butterfly and bush.Equipment
I am an amateur and have no idea what I am doing. shoot mostly in auto or manual. I use a Canon EOS 70D, hand held, occasionally using tripodInspiration
what could be prettier than a yellow butterfly and purple butterfly bushEditing
in this particular photo I wanted to enhance the yellow and purple. I use Lightroom for editing. I use the radial filter to brighten the subject and darken the background. Added clarity, enhanced colorIn my camera bag
I carry my camera everywhere I go. Normally I have my Canon EOS 70D, 3 lens...EFS 18-55mm, EFS 55-250mm and 70-300mm. I also carry several lens filters and an extra battery. I recently purchased a GPS attachment which I use when going on trips. Otherwise most of my photos are taken in my backyard and around my small town.Feedback
I am an amateur and the best advice I have is to take lots of shots...one out of ten may be great. Practice, practice, practice...take shots of things you like. Look at other photographer's work, join photography web sites, photography face book pages and don't be afraid to ask questions. I find most photographers are glad to share their knowledge and give advice.
