This photo was taken at The Wave, on the boarder of Utah and Arizona. The Coyote Buttes area is beautiful. Everywhere you look, the sandstone is stunning.Time
This was taken in the middle of the day... Helped some fellow hikers find their way so it took longer to get there then we planned but most importantly, everyone got there safe and sound that day.Lighting
Because of the hiking situation, the light was not the "golden hour" light we all hope for but I believe in making the best of every situation.Equipment
I shot this with a Nikon D300, hand held. I don't remember the lens used here.Inspiration
The beauty of this place was the inspiration. I have photos of the iconic "Wave" but wanted to photograph everything else that made this area so special. This place looked like the canyon walls were made of red and white peppermint candy!Editing
Not much post processing on this shot, I couldn't. My husband used my camera the evening before and changed my settings. I didn't know he did this until I started looking at all my images from that day on the computer and saw they were all blown out and grainy. I couldn't figure out why until I checked the ISO and realized they were all shot at a high ISO. I may have cried. I should have double checked all the settings but didn't and now was left with only a handful of photos from this beautiful place. Luckily, this was one of them. I decided to leave it alone in post processing because other than very basic adjustments out of RAW, it became too grainy or overexposed.In my camera bag

Be adventurous! Look in all directions and all different angles. I have found my best shots come from seeing things that most people don't; maybe that's a different perspective, a going places others wouldn't (within reason), and trying (and sometimes failing) new techniques or some crazy idea you have. The time it works, it's amazing, and when it doesn't it usually leads you to the next "great idea". Also... Always check ALL of your settings LOL!
