It deserves this accolade, it's a fine photo..The roadway leads the viewer right into the shot ;)

Behind The Lens
Location
Near Ridgecrest, CA.Time
Evening, just before the sun dropped behind the Eastern Sierras.Lighting
A storm system was moving west to east across the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range, I just happened to find a break in the clouds as I was heading down the mountain.Equipment
The picture was shot handheld with a Nikon D600 & a Tamron 24-70 F/2.8 SP lens. No flash.Inspiration
I liked the dramatic contrast between the storm clouds and the clear sky off to the west, that combined well with the road leading your eye out to infinity.Editing
Slightly increased the contrast. In my camera bag
Nikon D600, Nikon D810, Tamron 24-70mm F/2.8 SP, Nikon 14-24mm F/2.8, Manfrotto BeFree CF tripod, Nikon 50mm f/1.8.Feedback
I look for images that will naturally lead your eye through the frame, left to right seems to be the most friendly. Contrasts in lighting and altitude also helped make this a better image.
