We had to make these in college, went to school for pastry and baking arts. Wonderful real life shot! I want to grab the one on the bottom. ;* )

Taken at home on my kitchen table.Time
Taken March 20 2014 on "Macaron Day" around noon.Lighting
I used just natural indirect sun light. I did not have a reflector with me, so I wrapped a big magazine with aluminum foil.Equipment
Canon 70D Tamrom 60mm macro lens. I used blue wrapping paper as a background.Inspiration
March 20th is Macaron Day. I usually love trying free macarons from famous bakeries in NYC. I found out when the participating bakeries were giving away one macaron per customer, they were hoping customers will buy more to support a good cause. Participating bakeries donate a percentage of their profits from macaron sales to City Harvest, a non-profit food gathering agency, so I bought some. I wanted to support in a small and fun way.Editing
I used Lightroom and not much post processing. You can see at top right, there was shadow. I could either re-take or Photoshop that part, but I do not have Photoshop and decided to leave as-is.In my camera bag
Canon 70D, Tamron 60mm F2.0 macro lens or Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro, these days.Feedback
Building up 9 macarons was not so easy. A fun project but needs patience. Also needed to think about the arrangement of colors while I was at the store.
