This photo was done in my make-shift studio one winter afternoon. I was working on some still life photos and went to the grocery store and bought some white tulips. I used sunlight coming in through a window to back-light the tulip's petals. I also used an atomizer to spray water.Time
morning.Lighting
Perfect - it turned out just like I wanted. The sparkles were done with Filter Forge.Equipment
Nikon D-200 and a Manfrotto 055MF4 tripod with a 3265 joystick head. No flash was used just the sunlight coming through the window.Inspiration
I liked the natural beauty and contrast of the tulip petals. The addition of the back-lighting and the water droplets adds something extra to the image.Editing
Silver Efex Pro for the B&W and Filter Forge for the star light effect. In my camera bag
I have a Nikon D-7100, Nikkor 18-135mm 1:3.5-5.6 zoom lens for most of my work. I also have a Nikkor 70-300mm and an 80-400mm lens. I use a Nikon SB-800 Speedlight flash and a Manfrotto 055MF4 tripod with a 3265 joystick head.Feedback
I usually find an interesting photo in a book or magazine and then try and dissect it and determine how the photographer was able to create the image. I then try to incorporate those techniques into my images. There's nothing wrong with learning from someone else.
