What camera settings did you use to get this affect, I've tried it but my image always comes out too bright for some reason, would be great if you could help :)

First, I took it in the evening right before sunset. Overcast skies help. Also, use a dark filter!! It really makes a huge difference during daytime shooting. I find that late summer waterfalls are the best because they run lower. Too much water and it seems like there is too much white. Settings were Aperture at 22, ISO at 100, and shutter speed was set to BULB using a remote.

Location
The photo was taken at Upper Butte Creek Falls near Molalla, Oregon.Time
This was taken shortly before sunset in late fall/early summer.Lighting
Since this was taken in late summer/early fall, I headed up late afternoon so I could wait for the right lighting before sunset. For the long exposure, it's easier to take when there is still some natural light left, but not enough to bring out too much glare in the waterfall. This was taken with about a 50 second exposure.Equipment
I used my Canon Rebel T1i for this shot with an ND filter on an 18-55 mm lens.Inspiration
I absolutely love waterfalls and there are so many practically right in my back yard! A year and a half of patient waiting and checking on the falls led to a day where the water was just right and there were very few visitors. This is truly one of the most beautiful waterfalls I have ever seen.Editing
I sharpened up the photo, deepened some of the greens and grays, and added a very slight vignette. The location is green and lush year round so I really wanted to bring out what was lost in the long exposure. In my camera bag
My primary camera is a Canon 5D, with a T1i as my back-up. I have several lenses, with the newest being a 16-40 mm wide angle lens. I try to carry everything that fits!Feedback
You have to have a lot of patience to capture moving water with a long exposure. Always use a remote and tripod. I usually shoot waterfalls on an overcast afternoon or during the hour before sunset on a sunny day.
