Behind The Lens

Location

The photo has been taken in Johns Island, South Carolina. I love driving around in the more rural areas on the Island as there is so much to discover.

Time

The night before, I've heard in the news that there will be a lot of fog in the morning. So I knew that I will have to get up early in order to take some amazing landscape pictures. I love the time of the year when there is a lot of fog every morning

Lighting

Other than the sun, I did not have any other/extra lighting. I love to take pictures with natural/available light.

Equipment

I have used my old Canon EOS 50D with the 24-105mm lens. I did not use a tripod as I was able to shoot wiht 1/50 at f/16.

Inspiration

I was driving around this morning because I knew it's going to be a foggy morning, and also, I was doing a series about Johns Island for my Photojournalism class in College. I love landscape photography and Johns Island is a perfect spot for that kind of photography.

Editing

I turned the image into a Black & White image using the Silver Efex software

In my camera bag

I usually carry my camera (Canon EOS 50D) together with my 100-400m lens. A 24-104 and a 10-20mm lens are also part of my carry on equipment. I always have a tripod in my car as this can become very handy.

Feedback

My advice would be go out and have fun. I know it's hard to get up early, especially on weekends, but for me, it's always worth it. It's about being outside, exploring an area and take lots of pictures. As more often you do it, as better you will get. Pay attention to the light, especially the sun. Best time for me to be out is an early fall morning.
