Beautiful natural light that day and luckily the treefrog was in the shade so I didn't have to combat glare.Equipment
Nikon D5200 18-55mm, handheld no flash or other equipment.Inspiration
Cuban treefrogs are an invasive species in Florida, but they are large, beautiful species full of personality and patience. This particular frog just had a great expression and I couldn't resist him when he perched on my flowerpot.Editing
I lightened up the image a bit by adding a minimal spotlight and cropped. Also toned down the color contrasts somewhat by adding a lightly tinted fill layer since the pot color drew the eye away from the frog.In my camera bag
Basic only since most photographs come while I'm hiking. After many miles, the extra equipment is just a burden! I have a sturdy, weatherproof camera backpack and only take what I'll use.Feedback
I love photographing the often overlooked tiny things in the world and can usually be found squatting or laying in the grass and dirt, as I feel being at eye level with them is important. Out of all the treefrogs in Florida, I find Cubans to be the most easy going and expressive. Just move slowly and they will usually stay relaxed.
