Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in an area referred to as the "Rathdrum prairie".

Time

It was about 11:00 a.m.

Lighting

Natural lighting.

Equipment

Sony Nex-6 with a 17-55mm lens.

Inspiration

The area is very flat and rural. I was driving around looking for interesting things....horses, cows, llamas, sheep, windmills, railroad tracks, barns, fences, goats, old cars, etc. This old car with a "for sale" sign was just parked in an open field close to the road. I walked up and took about 6 shots.

Editing

I just used the iphoto slides and tweaked the image. I used the in-camera HDR also.

In my camera bag

I carry a shoulder bag with the Sony Nex-6, 14mm, 17-55mm, 50-200mm, and fish eye lenses, as well as a bean bag, 2 extra memory cards, 3 extra batteries and various cleaning gear.

Feedback

Finding an old vehicle like this is not really difficult if you keep your eyes open for them. They can be in urban or rural areas. I just make a point of stopping and getting about 6 shots when I see one. I like to get in close and low for a more dramatic image.
