Well this image was taken a few years ago now Osnabruck zoo Germany.Time
this was one of the best images i had taken with my my first DSLR the Canon 10D that was passed down to me from my mother when she passed. I remember it being just after lunch around 1300hrs when we made our way to the bird section of the zoo in Osnabruck Germany.Lighting
I wanted the image to look as bright as possible as the day was pretty grey do i dropped the f/stop as low as possible also slowed the shutter speed and raised the ISO but not to much as i didn't want too much noise in the image.Equipment
i used the Canon 10D with 70-300mm EF lens.Inspiration
I've always liked taking images of wildlife but never had a good enough camera until then so i took full advantage of the camera at hand.Editing
i usually don't tend to do much post processing but when i do i like to use PS Elements and Colour Splash. So for this image i converted the RAW file to JPEG then kept the bird colour and turned the background B&W in Colour Splash. In my camera bag
The first 2 pieces of equipment in my bag/box nowadays is my 5Div & 7D ii as these are pretty good bits of kit with solid body and weather sealing these are also closely followed by my 100-400mm USM L mark ii for distance shots especially when in Kenya on safari, i also carry a 70-200mm USM L mark ii for the sports, 50mm mark ii, 100mm Macro, 85mm USM are good for portraits and weddings and finally but no means least i carry the 24-105mm & 8-15mm fisheye lenses for those wide angle shots.Feedback
Patience is the key with these shots as they can be still for hours but you need to be ready at the drop of a hat to take that all important image i always say that it's 40 percent luck 60 percent skill when it comes to wildlife. as you need to be in the right place at the right time but when you get that image its well worth it.
