In art, I ask myself, what comes to mind at 1st sight? To me this expand from creation of nature, all to the laborious creation of man's hands... Totally fabulious capture!

This image was taken in Lyon, France. I was backpacking in there and I asked from locals if they could point me to something cool to see. Lyon is awesome city and there is alot to see, but "traboules", as they are called, sounded like something I would really like to see and possibly shoot. Traboules are mostly hidden so it was also a great excuse to walk around the beautiful city of Lyon.Time
I was travelling with a high pace so I didn't really have alot of time to spend in Lyon. I think this image was taken at around noon. I took alot of pictures during this day. In the old part of Lyon you can almost walk aroung with neverending continuous shooting. Just keep the shutter button pressed and walk for few miles. I love the place.Lighting
Lighting in this image is fully natural. In the center of the frame, you can see outside to the sky. The top of the stairs are providing the first light source. The second light source is right next to me, which is a short tunnel from outside to the point where I took the photo. Also there is a small balcony in each level of the stairs which give additional light to the stairs. This traboule was used as a normal staircase in an appartment property. Very cool place to live. One resident even gave me a sneak peak to her appartment and I have to say, it was fabulous.Equipment
This image was taken with a point n' shoot camera. Canon IXUS 255 HS. I was really bummed about this when I was taking the shot. I was certain that the image that I took was not going to give me result that I would've got with DSLR, but it did good. I still don't know if this image would be better or worse if I would have used DSLR. I imagine I could have overdone it.Inspiration
The story behind the subject is really inspiring. Traboules are little passageway that were build centurys ago. Oldest ones are thought to have been built in the 4th century by Romans. Most of the traboules are hidden and if you wanna experience them you need to walk around the old part of the city and find them by yourself. Traboules were used by town people to get to the river easily for the water. Also textile merchants used traboules to move around the city with ease and also to avoid getting robbed after successful day at the market.Editing
Since this image was taken with point n' shoot I had to do some post-processing. Image file was .jpg so I didn't have much to work with, but I did my best. I did some color corrections, lighting adjustments and I also took away some small inperfections from the image. Small stuff.In my camera bag
I use mainly Nikon D600. I have Nikon F4 and Mamiya RB67 also, but those cameras are not in frequent use anymore. My lenses for the nikon bodies are Nikon 85mm f:1.8G, Nikon 50mm f:1.8 Series E, Sigma 150mm f:2.8 macro and Tokina 16-28mm f:2.8. I tend to use 150mm the most. I don't normally carry my point n' shoot with me. I had it with me this time because I was backpacking and I really didn't want to carry any extra weight.Feedback
This picture is taken with point n' shoot so obviously the shooting part is as easy as it gets, but I can give few tips on how to frame this kind of image. It's not just walking under the stairs and taking a pic. Spend time on framing. Stand under the stairs and find the perfect composition. Spin around, zoom in and out and tilt your camera right and left. You will know when you find your shot. Avoid placing anything to the center of the frame unless you are going to crop the image to square. If you are shooting with DSLR, use small aperture for the long depth of field. And lastly, if you are in Lyon, go find few traboules and capture them.
