It was in mid-morning in April 2013. She has been one of my favourite babies to photograph. Very calm just 2 days old.Lighting
Totally natural light from. I used nothing extra.Equipment
Nikon 7100, 18-130 lens, no flash.Inspiration
I wanted to expand my education. This was my 1st attempt at baby photography. You can study & watch all the YouTube videos but it just can’t replace the experience. I love photographing babies they are such a delight.Editing
I just did a bit with exposure, & skin smoothing.In my camera bag
I changed from Nikon to Fuji XT2 3 years ago. I have a 100-400, 18-135, 35, Lensbaby 56 & 55-200. I love the Fuji system. The jpegs are fabulous. I used to shoot only RAW with Nikon, but I only do that in unusual light etc. Most of my work is for pleasure & travel, or landscapes. There are so many options with this system. I can shoot 3 different looks at the same time, black & white, Crome & Vivid, then choose what I really want to use. There are other options but I prefer these.Feedback
Be patient, be prepared, expect that it can take up 3hrs to complete the shoot. It takes lots of time to settle the baby. Do your research on this topic it’s not like you just show up & get it done. Never put a baby in danger always have a spotter with hands on the baby, they can move. Don’t wrap them tightly they can be harmed. Enjoy yourself, take your time.
