Absolutly gorgeous!! Great job..pin sharp! I LOVE watching the Eagles and getting as many shots as I can...what a wonderful past-time and BOY do I wish I was where you are;) Of course I have many saying the samething to be in the winter when we have a pair of Eagles that mate and have had at least two youngsters while here over the last two years...can't wait until they're here again!

I took this photo in a small Southeastern coastal town in Alaska.Time
This photo was taken at 3:30 in the afternoon in FebruaryLighting
there is really nothing special about the lighting. Even though this was shot in mid day, in Alaska the sun sets much earlier in the winter so the lighting was beginning to soften a bit when this was shot.Equipment
I use a Nikon D300S and a Sigma 150-500 Lens. I did not use a tripod with this shot or a flash.Inspiration
I was watching several crows pestering this Eagle on the beach. This eagle would not fly away and was getting very agitated. This eagle would just hop around these crows until it started to strut around with this funny intense expression. It turned out to be a very great subject to capture.Editing
I shoot in RAW so I do a bit of post processing only in getting the colors to look as close to what I was shooting. I try not to edit my photos very much and always try to get them to look as natural as I can. I try and make sure the shadows and highlights are what they were when I was taking the shot. I will sharpen a bit also.In my camera bag
I usually carry my Nikon D300S, Nikon 28-300mm lens, Sigma 17-50mm lens and my Sigma 150-500mm lens. 2 spare batteries, Nikon SB 910 AF flash, chain pod to help steady when hand holding, 4 extra extreme 8 GB sandisk memory cards, Nikon MC-36 wired shutter/timer release, RFN-4 wireless shutter release, extra AAA batteries, circular polarizer filter, ND 4 filter along with micro fiber cloth to wipe lenses.Feedback
I always try to watch for and photo wildlife doing actions that we normally don't see in photos. I try to photo actions and behaviors that show personality of that animal. So when I come up on an opportunity such as this one, I try to really watch and learn the behaviors of the subject I am shooting. You also need to have patience and take the opportunity when it comes. Also, take lots of photos. I took about 600 shots on this day when I got this one. I seem to only keep about 1-3 percent of the photo's I take when shooting wildlife.
