I stumbled across this dead Fireweed in my yard. I loved the natural lighting and the shadows created by the curled up leaves. The time of day was right to form a crude heart. Its one of my easiest and favourite photos.

Location
I was planning to go on an afternoon hike one winter day. I stepped out into my backyard to pick up the trail. I only took a few steps when i noticed the heart created by a dead fireweed plant. Its probably the easiest and simplest photo i ever took.Time
Late MorningLighting
The lighting was little harsher than i would have liked and with shadows in the frame, exposure had to be fairly accurate.Equipment
Minolta Maxxum 9 -35mm film camera with a 100mm 2.8Inspiration
I love shadows and patterns on the snow in winter. I love the abstracts that sometimes can make for a very unique photograph.Editing
I added little contrast to this photoIn my camera bag
I shoot with a Sony Alpha 900-25MP Digital---a 100mm 2.8 macro---24mm 1.4 Wide Angle---28-105mm 4.5 Zoom---70-400mm 4.5 Telephoto. Several filters including polarizers. Minolta Program 5600-High Speed FlashFeedback
The hardest thing is finding something interesting in a shadow/s or patterns. Use your imagination and look hard. Be open minded and try to see the "abstract". Good Shooting!
