This is the old Alexandria bridge. Originally built in 1861 by Joesph Trutch was destroyed in 1894 by the Fraser Flood and dismantled in 1912 due to hazards and CPR railway construction and long abandonment of the Cariboo road. The bridge was rebuilt on the original footings in 1926 and ceased to be used for automobile traffic in 1964 due to the construction of the New Alexandria bridge 2km (1 mile) downstream.
