Behind The Lens

This photo was taken in my home. It is a photo of my pet dog. She is an Australian Bulldog and she was enjoying the morning sunshine.
It was morning and she was just lying by me while I was editing some photos on my computer
It was morning natural light. The sunshine was coming in from the side and she was certainly enjoying lying in the sunshine.
I happened to have my Nikon macro 105 mm lens on my camera, a Nikon D610. I didn't use any light modifiers as the sunshine was hitting her face at a lovely angle.
It was a spur of the moment shot. My dog was enjoying the sunshine. My camera was handy and I got down on the ground in front of her to take the shot. She usually comes over to me if I try and take her photo but this time she just stayed as she was enjoying the sunshine and feeling lazy I think.
I use Lightroom and photoshop for post processing. This photo didn't need a lot. The sunshine and her relaxed expression were enough. Plus the fact she is looking straight at me.
In my camera bag
This photo was taken a while ago now These day I usually grab my Nikon d750 with my 24-70mm F2.8 lens on. This lens is so versatile as I can shoot wide, I can shoot in limited spaces and the 70mm is good for portraits. I do love my macro 105mm as well though for shots like this.
Photographing your own pets can be difficult. I usually have lots of bribes on hand. You need to get down to their level and as soon as I do that, they think I'm there to play with them. For this shot however, she was enjoying the sun and was too lazy to move so it was an ideal opportunity to catch her. I'm always on the look out for moments when the light and the mood are just right.
