The photo was taken in the field where the pups were born, who can pass up an opportunity to photograph puppies sleeping.Time
This is one of my favorite photo's of these little guys, I came in to see how they were doing and noticed that as they lay there snuggled closely, their ears were in the same position, what a cute non-posed pose, I hurried to get the shot as puppies move around alot, and I didn't want to miss this one.Lighting
They were in a large laundry basket on a well lit back porch, but I still turned the basket toward the window for a bit better direct lighting, creating the shine on their coats.Equipment

I watched the birth of these little ones and knew it was a great photo op, I never really had photographed puppies before, I probably snapped a hundred shots or more, so much fun and quite mesmerizing.Editing
The only processing I did on this photo was to use the black and white filter to remove most of the color, leaving just enough to create the great texture.In my camera bag

These were fairly easy to get while they were sleeping, however be prepared for action when they wake up, there is a lot of movement, a rapid fire camera is a good choice for action shots.
