Reminds me of Eliot Porter's classic images. A beautiful shot! Are you familiar with Porter's portfolio titled, Out West? I think you might enjoy seeing--many are on the Internet.

Location
Zion National Park, first week of November. Abosolutely the best time to visit the park. Perfect weather, fewer people, plus you can use your private auto in Zion Valley (vs. using the shuttle bus system).Time

Experiment with multiple exposure settings, bracket, check your histogram regularly. If you're shooting in RAW, don't have a tripod and want to utilize HDR processing, you can make duplicate images, vary exposure and then merge in your HDR software.Equipment

In early November, everywhere in Zion National Park is amazing, especially at dawn and dusk. If you're not inspired there, you need to check your pulse!Editing
