Beautifully done portrait, wonderful lighting! Curious, though, is what looks like a fingerprint smudge above this young models right eye?

That has to do with the depth of field, the bridge of the child's nose where her eyebrows begin is out of focus, her eyes are in focus.

The composition becomes more interesting as she's falling out of frame

Location
I took this photo on the balcony of my home. The balcony had walls on 3 sides with two windows so it created a really beautiful place to take photos.Time
9am, I always shoot early morning or late afternoonLighting
I don't live in that house anymore because we move a lot. In every house I try to find special places where I know the light to be filtered and soft. I also like to use tents with white netting for walls. It adds a glow and it filters the direct sun. It becomes an outdoor studio.Equipment
This was shot my first year of becoming a professional photographer, it was shot using a Rebel XTI and a 50 1.4 lens. This is a natural light photograph. I have since moved up to the Canon 5D Mark III and the 24-70 L lens. I always tell people it's not the equipment that makes you good it's what's in that head of yours. I gradually worked myself up to that equipment over the years but I look back and I still love some of the images I created with simple equipment.Inspiration
This was a professional shoot, one of my first, of two sisters. We had taken them out in the field dressed like fairies and they had a tea party. I wanted to do some studio headshot type photos afterward. This particular balcony had fabulous windows and the light is so pretty at a particular time in the day.Editing
Yes air brushing, sharpening, color tones and brightening. In my camera bag
I carry a canon 5D Mark III with a 24-70 L lens and a Canon 7D with a 10-22 lens for wide angle shots. I use the 600 Speedlite. I like to use both natural and flash in my portraits. I'm working on upgrading to the 70-200 L IS II and the 200 F/2 hopefully this year.Feedback
You either love working with kids or you don't. There's no in-between if your good at it. I love love kids and animals they're definitely my favorite subject to work with. You have to be quick on the trigger because it may only be a small moment that you get. Some kids cry the entire time so you may only get that one moment and you don't want to be to slow or blow your setting and miss that chance. You have to be on your toes when shooting the little ones it requires a lot of energy to keep them interested. This photo was not cropped I was that close with the 50 when I shot it. I wouldn't do that now because of cropping and printing images also because I'm using a 24-70 it distorts the face when I'm that close. So I'll shoot back a little and crop in close later.
