Love that - real life person and water and not something artificial, would have been my first choice!

Behind The Lens
Location
In my backyard. I was under a porch while my son was frolicking in the rain.Time
5:09 PM in the summertime.Lighting
All natural light. ISO 400. It was fairly cloudy and grey outside, but it worked well with this semi-silhouette type shot I was going for.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark 3. Canon EF 50mm f 1.2. Handheld.Inspiration
I love catching my children in candid moments. It started raining really hard, and we had just purchased this clear umbrella! My son wanted to go play outside with the umbrella, and I thought to myself that it would be a great photo opportunity.Editing
Yes, I love both minimally editing and more creative edits. I wanted to highlight the raindrops and the light, and was also going for a grey shady edit to mimic the atmosphere. I edited it first in Lightroom, and then used the Analog Efex Pro 2 program to provide some depth and shading to the photo. In my camera bag
I always have my Canon EF 50mm f 1.2 because I love portraits with wide apertures. I carry a lens cloth to keep my lens clean. I have a light meter app on my phone as well.Feedback
I try to capture moments when they happen, which means I have to be quick on my feet and have my camera available. I recommend trying to photograph candid moment often; it helps you manipulate settings quickly on the camera to try and get a good exposure . I try to catch people when they are not aware of the camera, which can be tricky. It's important to be aware of the crop of the photo when shooting candid moments, as it can be easy to forget when focusing on the exposure.
