Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in photography studio I rented for the day. Its where I always go when I wanted to take some photos or practice.

Time

It was taken around early afternoon, It was the time Gabrielle and I agreed to meet. It was my first time to collaborate with her, we just met online and decided to meet and make some images.

Lighting

It's a clam shell lighting, I wanted to light her face and her hair. I used a umbrella box above and a big silver reflector below to soften the shadows.

Equipment

I used a D5100, a Sigma 70-300 lens, a trigger and receiver set and one of the studio strobes with umbrella box attached and a reflector.

Inspiration

I wanted to have a beauty shot of her and also look at her facial angles since its our first time to work together.

Editing

Yes, I did retouch her skin. took out some blemishes and adjusted colors

In my camera bag

my d5100, 2 sets of portable flash, a 70-300 lens, a 50mm lens, a trigger and 2 receivers, cables and connectors for the receivers, 5 sets spare batteries, a small cleaning kit, a diy bowl reflector, emergency survival kit and a laptop.

Feedback

experiment with lights and always practice. try out different diffusers and see which one fits your taste. try out lighting indoors and outdoors. try combining ambient and flash. look at your model and find out her best angle.
