Magnificent all around. The contrast of the light and the dark in the foreground adds a lot to drawing your eye across the image.

Behind The Lens

Location

This is shot outside Sheffield train station. With a Fuji X-pro and 10-24mm lens with a 10 stop filter. It's one of my popular shots.

Time

It was taken on a very grey miserable morning......or a normal day as it's known in the UK!!

Lighting

Although it was grey and miserable I make myself go out and try out different things. I also had a few nice shots of some Sheffield landmarks with quickly moving clouds, blurred using the 10-stop filter.

Equipment

Fuji X-pro and Fuji 10-24mm lens and a 10 stop filter.

Inspiration

I was trying to show off the uniformity of the curves and the water.

Editing

I used Nik Silver Efex to covert it to B & W.

In my camera bag

Unfortunately the Fuji got traded in so that I could finance a Canon 400mm lens as sports photography is my main love. I missed the feel of the Fuji so I ended up buying a Fuji X100S......my bank manager was very happy......sort of!

Feedback

Practice, practice, practice. Read loads as there's so much information out there. I'm completely self taught. And go out in all weathers. With architecture look for uniformity as patterns and texture show really well in Black & White. When in a city don't forget to look up and down as there's so much we miss by keeping our eyes at "eye-level".
