Location
This was taken on Dartmoor in Devon, EnglandTime
It as taken about mid-day.Lighting
The lighting on the high moorland can be very changeable from bright one minute to overcast the next. This was one of those days so keeping an eye on white balance was needed.Equipment
I use a Panasonic Lumix FZ150 with a Leica lensInspiration
I loved this little guy as soon as I saw him. He wasn't very big in size but looked full of character. The moor is covered with hill ponies but this one just caught my eye.Editing
I did remove my shadow from this image. Classic mistake noticed after the shot! I was too focused on getting the light on the ponies face & didn't notice where I was standing. Apart from that it's as takenIn my camera bag
I travel very light especially over the moors. I keep a tripod in my car but usually only carry my camera with me.Feedback
Look for the character of your subject. As I said there were many ponies about but this one just had that extra something. Also don't make my mistake of getting my own shadow in the image, look where your light is coming from to make the most of facial expressions & less shadow on your subject.
