Behind The Lens

Location

I had just bought myself a range of new lights, some soft boxes, new beauty dish and a smoke machine and was just playing about with some ideas about the light position in my studio.

Time

Just in the afternoon some time.

Lighting

The lighting was just a beauty dish positioned about 45 degrees behind the model

Equipment

I used a Sony a77 with a 16-50mm 2.8 lens. The flash is an einestine e640 with beauty dish and the smoke machine was just a random on I had bought off amazon.

Inspiration

After investing in a few bits of equipment, I got my girlfriend to do a bit of posing while i played about with some lighting set ups.

Editing

I converted the image to black and white and then played about with the levels and stuff, nothing too drastic.

In my camera bag

I have my trusty Sony a77, and I usually carry my tamron 70-200 2.8 (my big birtha) and my sigma 85mm 1.4. my go too portrait lens and my 16-50mm 2.8. I'm a wide apature kinda guy!

Feedback

I'm a big believer in just trying new ideas and hoping something works. I'm not the guy who works out what I want to do first. Keep mixing things up and see what you get.
