Location
I took this photo on a trip to Quepos, A fishing town located in the Puntarenas province of Costa Rica. I came across this school yard that seemed to be abandoned for Summer break.Time
The time was mid to late afternoon and unfortunately I had broken my cell phone screen and I was in search of a repair shop. Everything was closed for some reason and I ended up going the entire trip without a cell phone. However I'm very glad I brought along my camera and laptop and it gave me more time to focus on my photography without the cell phone distraction.Lighting
The lighting was natural and the source was only the tropical mid afternoon sun bouncing off of nearby cars and concrete walls. It was slightly shaded underneath a part of the schools roof. The boots clearly could get enough natural light to provide photosynthesis to the plants growing within which I found captivating.Equipment
Cannon T5I and 75-300mm zoom lensInspiration
I was inspired to shoot this photo because I felt like it told a story and was a memory that I could hold onto and make tangible by capturing it on film. It was a reminder to me that life can grow in the strangest of places and the connections between humans and nature are all around us.Editing
My post processing on this photo was done using a combination of lightroom and photoshop techniques to both remove other colors and adjust levels. In my camera bag
I generally like to have extra SD cards and back up battery. Also I cary around some flash filters for evening & low light shootsFeedback
Bring your camera along with you on vacations and trips and keep it handy! Don't let it collect dust at home or in the hotel bring it out and capture little things and big things that catch your eyes attention. My mother always told me "to take 100 photos and you will find a gem or two amongst them."
