This is the San Jacinto Monument in Texas. My great grandfather Milton R Scholl was one of the principle architects at A C Finn's firm, who designed the structure. We still have one of three original plaster of paris miniatures that were created beforehand. One of the others is in the museum at the monument, and I'm not sure where the third one ended up, if it even still exists. Ours is in much better condition than the one at the museum. The top of the monument went through several different revisions, and the model in the museum shows something entirely different. Our model has the same 9-sided star that was eventually chosen to top the monument.
