Behind The Lens

Location

As an armature photographer, I am always on the hunt for the next interesting shot and every shot is a new learning experience. For this shot, I was a little disappointed that I did not have my dslr camera as I was at work and only had my phone on me. As a heavy duty mechanic that works at a rigging/trucking company. There are always cool things coming in the yard to take pics of.

Time

This picture was taken around 7am with scattered low clouds and the sun coming out. As I had just punched in at work. I was taking out the trash in my shop area to the dumpster and when I turned around I saw an opportunity and took it.

Lighting

Being early morning, I figured the lighting would be great if I took the picture and turned it into a negative later. Being low light have enough contrast to highlight the areas I was looking for and also make the shot look like it was taken at night.

Equipment

As I was at work, I did not have my Cannon dslr camera. I used my phone which is a Samsung Note3

Inspiration

My inspiration for this picture was the low lighting but bright enough to highlight the areas I desired for when I switched the photo to a negative.

Editing

As an amateur Photographer and not a digital artist, I do not alter any of my photos. I do not have photoshop or any other programs nor do I believe in software. It is my opinion that a good photographer should not have to alter his or her photos. I did want to just switch the original picture to a negative but there were no enhancements of any kind.

In my camera bag

The camera equipment I have is: A Tripod, Canon Rebel EOS 3TI, Canon 75-300mm lens, 100mm macro lens, and a 18-55mm lens. Then there is my phone that takes great pictures and has many options for photography which is a Samsung Note3

Feedback

As I do not have much experience in photography and with every shot I am learning. All I can say is there are no bad pictures. Its in the eye of the beholder and as long as you are fulfilling your passion and that makes you happy. That's all that matters. As this is an obvious statement to most, but for the newbies. Don't be afraid to take as many pictures as possible. Also always remember lighting is key to every shot and you don't have to go and spend thousand of dollars in hopes to get the shot. Just make sure you have a good quality lens as the lens is the majority of the quality of the picture. Takes patience, practice, knowing your usable light sources, and stepping out of the box for different shots and angles.
