This photo was taken in my backyard in Melbourne. I was playing around with my old camera.Time
This photo was taken around midday when the kids were running around in the backyard playing zombie dress upsLighting
It was an overcast day but the sun kept peeking out so I took it under open shade also using the concrete ground as reflection.Equipment
I used my old standard 55-80 kit lens as my other camera was being repaired.Inspiration
I was inspired to take this shot because I wanted to captured the contrast between the black makeup and the whites of the eyesEditing
A little bit of editing was done in photo shop just to bring out contrast and convert the black and whiteIn my camera bag
I have a pentax k-r with a 50mm sigma prime. I also like using second hand lenses from the op shop. I picked up a 50mm for $10 and 17-70 for $5 still at attached to it's old film camera. They are my favourite lenses because you have to take things slow and really think about the shot because they are manual focus.Feedback
My advice would be if you can't afford the latest gear just look around at your local op shops or ebay for second hand gear and experiment with them.
