Looking West into the town of Independence, CO. This once thriving mining town is one of two sites in Colorado with structures still well preserved or reconstructed. The building you see with the metal roof is believed to be the General Store and has been maintained. During the summer an interpretaive intern stays in the town in a fully restored cabin on the west end of the town.
The General Store has photos and plot maps of the town. Multiple artifacts are throughout and on display. This is one of my favorite shots of the day.
