Behind The Lens
Location
Well one of the photographer's here in Houston messaged me on facebook and wanted to see how I shoot outdoors and how I work with my subjects. So he invited me to shoot with Sanya Ismail, one of the best models I shoot with here in Houston now. We went to a park that I always love to go and see the sundowns and enjoy the walks on the sunrise. Buffalo Run Park in Houston Texas.Time
We shot at 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.Lighting
Around that time the sunlight wasn't that strong, it gave my subject a subtle glow to her skin and gave a really cool feel to the background which it was worth waiting for.Equipment
I used the 5D Mark II with the lens I grew to love that wasn't a L lens but could get me the shot's that I want in a portrait. The Canon 75-300mm IS III lens.Inspiration
Jake Olson's work has inspired me since the beginning, going out there to Nebraska to meet the person I grew to respect as a photographer and artist. Learning from him, hearing his story and actually hearing from him that my goals can be reached inspired me enough to create something that I though I could not accomplish by myself.Editing
I used Portraiture to soften her skin and used Color Efex to add a little more of a cooling effect to the background, added a little more contrast to her skin and changed her skin tone using selective color on photoshop. In my camera bag
I have the Canon 5D Mark II, 28mm 1.8 prime, 50mm 1.8 prime, 85mm 1.8 prime, 50-200mm IS II, 100-300mm 5.6 and the 18-105mm 4.5 stock lens.Feedback
Be open minded with your subjects and learn on how to read their emotions through the lens and the model will do the rest for you as long as they are in their comfort zone.
