It is 3-4 of a mile from the parking lot to the edge of the canyon at Horseshoe Bend. It was early morning but the sun was already up and hot. Because there were no clouds and I missed sunrise, I never did get a decent photo of the Bend. The top half of it was lit by very bright sun and the bottom half was in deep shade.
