Robberflies are amazing predators with a unique look. Really incredible insects with personality, and I just adore them.Editing
I made the mistake of not taking in RAW, and was only on JPEG (I'm still kicking my self for that!), which made post processing a chore. Really the only thing I wanted to do was lighten the shadows but I wound up having to lighten the entire picture and lost some crispness. Haven't made the JPEG mistake since though; nothing like a hard earned lesson. In my camera bag
Because most of images come while I'm hiking, I go light and have only basic equipment for what I want to capture that day. A sturdy, weatherproof camera backpack is essential and I can swap out what I am carrying for whatever I have plans for.Feedback
Patience and persistence. Robberflies tend not to fly far when carrying a heavy load, keep a good eye on them and move slowly. This particular one took flight multiple times, but finally allowed me to get close enough.
