Dona Flor de Maio - Comunidade Raízes, Minas Gerais

ocated at the midwest of Minas Gerais, the community of Raiz it's home to many skilled rural craftsmen who produces jewelry and decorative products made of Capim Dourado ( a kind of golden grass that you can see in the woman's hands) and Sempre Vivas (a flower that never dies) Many people has been visiting the community to buy the artcrafts even though it's not so easy to get there. To help visitors a sign has been placed at the beginning of the dirt road that leads to the village. An amateur portrait of this woman, called Flor de Maio (May flower in english) it's at the sign. She said she hates that photo and doesn't like to be photographed ever since. I spend two days at her home and at the end of the second day, she allowed me to take this picture.
