Location
This photo was captured on the Umpqua river in Oregon. This is Whitehorse Falls..Time
This was a mid morning capture with a layer of low clouds obscuring the sun..Lighting
The light was very flat but the long exposure was completed using a 10 stop ND filter and a 30 second shutter . The flat light kept the falls from being too bright for the long duration shutter..Equipment
I use a Canon 5d with a 24x70 F2.8 lens .. The tripod is a Manfrotto Carbon Fiber 190 model .The head I use is the "old" school twin handle model. This is caught with a Singh-Ray 10 stop ND filter and a 30 second exposure.Inspiration
The Umpqua River in central Oregon is called the waterfall river. it is really a series of incredible waterfalls ,one after another. Along with the beautiful water the vegetation is just beautiful with all of the green everywhere. It is a inspiring place to see and visit..Editing
I converted a RAW file to JPEG for ViewBug viewing only. There is a bit of sharpening after the conversion .In my camera bag
I carry a canon 5dmk3 with a 24x70 f2,8 lens attached most of the time.I also usually have a Canon 7d with a 70x200 f2,8 lens attached as well,. In the bag are a few other lenses....16x35 f2,8 and a 50mm f1,4.. Also a full set of Singh-Ray ND filters .. Of course there are a myriad of other things in there!!! gloves, heat packs, flash guns,batteries,flashlights.....Feedback
To capture these scenes you have to get out into nature,.. You need only the basic equipment at first and the BIGGEST thing is a desire to capture nature at Her finest.. Ask questions or take a photo workshop.Be patient and learn as much as you can... My little bit of advice here! lol..dennis
