Location
This photo is a part of a series of outdoor shooting at a seaside park. One flower stands out of the leaves.Time
Taken about four in the afternoon, while waiting for the sun to set.Lighting
I have located a wide open space to provide the depth of field, thereby getting much of the suns awesome power of lighting. At this condition I have a very wide range of aperture to play with.Equipment
This moment gave me a lot of chance to vary settings on my D7000 mounted with a 55 to 300 mm zoom lense. In the middle of the day where there's a lot of light, I was able to push the shutter speed greater than 1/160 hand held.Inspiration
While I was waiting to sun to set, ran some test shots around the park, varying the settings. I need to study the effects of varous camera setting against the ambient light. I wanted to see the effect of mid day sun setting to golden hour setting.Editing
One of the the things I learned from my tutors is to take the shot as you intended to record it. I did no post processing on this shot. This also lessens work on a "real world" photoshoot. Well, you can do some post to put your watermark or even a little bit of trimming. Nothing beyond that.In my camera bag
I usually carry my D7000 with a 55 to 300 mm nikkor lense for precision shooting. For wide angled shoots, I bring along my 28 to 75 mm 2.8 Tamron lense. You may not know what you will get into, that is why I have in my bag my SB700. A lot of memory cards to take more raw shoots and two sets of charged battery for continuous shooting enjoyment.Feedback
There's no better teacher than you are. No one can give you the right inspiration and motivation than you. So practice more. Don't get stuck on a small range of camera settings. Improve you shoots. Get some more gear to have more fun. Don't live on a kit lense. When I got my long zoom lense it opened a lot of opportunity for me. Deeper bokeh and stable outdoor shots. Try to listen or study what other photographers are shooting. Besst of all join photography contests.
