Location
This image was taken about 1/2 km up the street from my home. I was notified by a friend who had told me about these fox kits before and on this occasion she drove by and 3 fox kits were in an area close to their den and called me to let me know they were out playing again.Time
This was taken in late afternoon..maybe around 4 or 5 pmLighting
Nothing special about the lighting for this image. Just regular day light lighting.Equipment
This image was taken hand held a few feet from my subject. For this shot I had my Canon EOS 1D MKII body with a Canon EF 70-200 mm f/4L USM.Inspiration
My inspiration came from a photog friend of mine Jim Cumming who is also a ViewBug member and a excellent wildlife photographer. He has had many beautiful fox images and I wanted to do the same.Editing
No processing was done for this shot, just some cropping to create a nice portrait look.In my camera bag
My bag always has my go to lenses and body. My Canon EOS 5D and 7D are always at the ready with either my Canon EF 24-70 mm f/2.8L or my Canon EF 24-105 mm f/4L IS USM. I do also keep my Canon EF 100-400 mm if I need that extra reach.Feedback
Patience is key for this type of shot. Like all wildlife photography patience is a virtue. Waiting, being still and quiet for long periods of time is important. In this case the fox kits were aware of my presence and actually on a couple of occasions came close to me as they are curious by nature. So I just waited for one of them to look at me as I started to photograph them and managed to get this good eye contact shot.
