Location
Photo was taken while hiking in St Mark's Wildlife RefugeTime
It was taken in the mid-day- early afternoon.Lighting
It was really bight mid-say sun. It was good for the shot since my shutter speed could be really high and allowed me to stop the wing movement.Equipment
Canon 5D Mark III Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM LensInspiration
I loved the colors of butterfly and how they compliment with the purple of the plant.Editing
I did color correction and warmed it up in RAW. Since i only had a second to take shot before this butterfly took off I had no opportunity to change my location. That's why I had to edit out one small grass that ended up in the top part of the image and was distracting. I also added vignetting to draw attention to the center. In my camera bag
Usually have Canon 5D Mark III, Various Canon L lenses: 24-70mm, 16-35mm. 70-200mmFeedback
It is easier to take this shot being farther away. So long focal length is very useful here. I use my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens to take shots like that. Make sure to have fast shutter speed that will stop the wing movement.
