I wanted to combine the architectural distortion of the fisheye lens with that of the curvy bridge and, dare I say it, I have a slight obsession with photographing bridges!Editing
I took 5 exposures at 1 stop intervals (to cope with the huge contrast in light levels between the sky and the underside of the bridge), combined them using HDR Effex Pro 4; and applied one of my favourite filters - Granny's AtticIn my camera bag
Usually more than I should but as I shoot micro four thirds its not too heavy - typically, aside of my OMD-EM1, a flash, a small Garry Fong, fish eye, wide angle, 50mm (25mm m43 Voightlander- my go to, manual focus, lens), and portrait lens - all fixed focussed lenses, ND filters for my wide angle and 50mm lenses, a couple of spare batteries, cable release, lens cloth and brush.Feedback
This picture was about distorted architecture so got a reference frame in shot, the brick wall, together with the naturally 'distorted' curvy bridge. The sky was a minor distraction so I used the Granny's Atic filter to effectively turn it monochrome and put the focus on the architecture. What made this shot was getting the angles right so I took multiple shots and chose the one that I thought had the most impact. I also took care to line up the edge of the frame with that of the bridge to lead the eye into the shot.
