Nice capture amidst the blue sky. I call the designs under the wings God's murals. Good job of catching it.

Great job capturing this image! Having the cloud reflects sunlight on the tail, giving it a translucent look, is terrific!

Behind The Lens

Location

The hawk in "Flying Overhead" is one of two that were nesting along the Centennial High Line Canal in Littleton, Colorado. I spotted them in mid-March 2014, and have been following them ever since.

Time

We arrived mid-day for our hike.

Lighting

Natural lighting with no filter.

Equipment

Camera: NIKON D5100 Aperture: f/6.3 ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/1600

Inspiration

I have been interested in photography for most of my life because of my mother, but I didn't really start until early 2012. I have always loved wildlife, and enjoy taking photos of animals in their natural habitat if possible. In June 2012, I joined a photo shoot that was being held through Wolf Camera to photograph birds of prey from HawkQuest in Colorado. They offered a variety of birds to photograph from owls to the bald eagle, and all I can say is I fell in love with the birds.

Editing

There was minimal lighting and color enhancement done on this image.

Also, practice, and don't get discouraged if you don't always get the perfect shot.
