I took this photo on a tour of the Tio Pepe sherry farm in Spain. II always take my camera with my on my travels and wish I had more time to take more photos... I suppose that is a retirement dream :)Time
This was around midday but it was inside in his workshop so the time of day was only relevant in that the sun happened to be shining through the window above.Lighting
At first I was fascinated by the dust on the bottles themselves but it was the sunbeam hitting the bottles and giving all of the bottles a glow that captured my eye. The sunbeam also appears to be exerting power on the dust because it is striking the tops of the bottles where the dust has worn off.Equipment
I shot this handheld with a Nikon D70Inspiration
I wasn't looking specifically for this shot, but when I walked into the workshop and saw the bottles and the sun hitting the bottles I was struck by how the light emphasized the dust and the age but yet also gave the bottles depth and brought them to life.Editing
Only a little cropping and some adjustment of contrast and exposureIn my camera bag
Since most of my shots are talking while walking about I keep it light. Now I have a Nikon D7100 with a Tamrom 18 to 300 zoom and a Nikon 35 MM prime lensFeedback
This is a shot that was not setup but was captured as an opportunity. For most of my shots, as I mentioned I am waling about and taking shots of things that I think look interesting. I always look for patterns and themes and try to incorporate lighting to the patterns that emphasizes the pattern and them I see. Taking a shot like this is really more about the recognition and just stopping and taking the shot :)
