Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at Grand Central Station in New York

Time

This was shot during midday rush hour

Lighting

The natural light that comes through the stained glass windows proved to be an added effect, although i was not focused on that

Equipment

I used my Sony Nex 7, no flash! I did not want to be noticed.

Inspiration

I have long been a supporter of Ballet. I usually can tell which practice steps a ballerina might use in a wide open space, so as i stood on the balcony overlooking the main floor, trying not to be noticed yet sometimes being bumped by someone walking by, this happened..and luckily i was able to click my shutter at just the right second, while staying focused on her smiling face, not necessarily her legs.

Editing

I hardly use post processing on street photographs. I like when they are most “real” even if out of focus or slightly off. I might have opened the brightness near her face but the warm natural light was good enough for this indoor space.

In my camera bag

I usually carry my LEICA Q as it is lightweight and easy to grab when on the run. I love my Canon 5D but it’s bulk stops me from wanting to take it with me for long periods. My Sony Nex 7 is a lot of fun too!
