Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a small village in the mountains of Peru.

Time

This photo was taken in the early afternoon, just before we were treated to a local meal by the villagers.

Lighting

I really liked the way the light was shining on the little boys face and all of the other colors in the photo. Peru can be such a vibrant place to catch amazingly colorful photos.

Equipment

This was taken with my Nikon D3200 with a Nikon 10-24mm lens.

Inspiration

My inspiration for this photo was the lighting on the boys face, the playful outfit as well as his expression. I also loved the variety of color in the frame.

Editing

I used minimal post-processing to bring the colors out so they appeared the way they did to my eye in the scene. The D3200 didn't have the most accurate color representation.

In my camera bag

I've since traded in my D3200 for a new D810, I've not posted any images to Viewbug with it yet, but I'm excited to, as the images that are produced with this camera are absolutely amazing!

Feedback

It's challenging enough to get children to do what you would like in a photo, even more so when you don't speak their language! I think that taking a photo like this is a lot about being in the right place at the right time, paying attention to how the scene is changing and just taking the shot that speaks to you.
