Behind The Lens

Location

I took this in my bedroom which has awesome light being it has 2 (4 x 10 ) foot windows, I am a self taught photographer and this was my very first pregnancy shoot.

Time

I actually took this photo in the middle of the day as I was in my home .

Lighting

I used a sheer fabric over the windows to filter the light coming through them , it was a very bright sunny day and as the windows set on the east and west side of my home it makes for some harsh light so to give me the natural light that I wanted to use for this shoot I covered them in a sheer fabric and low and behold the perfect light was hitting her . Bringing out more of that pregnancy glow.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon t2i with a 18-55mm lens no other equipment.

Inspiration

This is my Beautiful daughter and I wanted to capture her beauty of being pregnant , I think women are beautiful while pregnant . This was my daughters second pregnancy and it would be her last due to very bad pregnancy complication and I wanted to show her that she was just as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside . Something to preserve that beautiful moment in her life .

Editing

I did very little post-processing with this photo , I did adjust the Levels and used some saturation and cropped it just a little no other process was done.

In my camera bag

The very first thing I usually loaded in my camera bag is extra batteries then I have my Canon 17-40mm lens , Canon 24-105mm and my Sigma 300 , My Canon Flash and a remote and also a monopod you just never know where or what opportunity you will come up on that inspires you to take out your equipment .

Feedback

Be patience first and foremost . Lets start with the usual time to do a pregnancy shoot 7 months is prime this is when she looks and feels her best any later and she just may feel to uncomfortable with and in her pregnancy . Always put her in a flattering position shooting from a higher angle is usually a good position . Always listen to her insecurities and work around them rather then highlighting them , Include the father to be and any siblings. Be prepared make sure you have everything you need for your shoot most ladies in this late stage get tired easily so time will not be your friend but you do not want to rush either . Ask if there is any certain thing or position she would like to try making her feel beautiful will give you better photo's the more she is comfortable with her body and the changes with it the more likely you will have a successful photo shoot . Talking to her and getting to know her is a big yes the more comfortable they become with you they become more comfortable with themselves and it will show in your photo's.
